Vegan Apple Pie

The BEST apple pie I've ever made from scratch! Since I have to go back to eating it, I'll just leave the recipe below so you can enjoy all the goodness for yourself! This recipe is made using granny smith apples🍏, but you can substitute it for macintosh apples🍎 if you'd like! Oh yeah, it's #Vegan!


Pastry Ingredients (Pate Brisee)

* Pastry can be assembled by hand or in a food processor. Do not over process and be sure to leave large chunks of butter for extra goodness!


  • 6-8 sliced Granny Smith Apples

  • ½ cup sugar

  • ¾ teaspoons cinnamon

  • 1/8 teaspoons fresh nutmeg

  • 1 ½ teaspoons lemon juice

  • 1 ½ tablespoons of flour

  • ½ tablespoons grated orange rind (optional but adds a great zest!)

  • 2 tablespoons of whole butter

  • 1-2 tablespoons Sugar for sprinkling on top


  1. Set oven to 350 degrees

  2. Add all the ingredients together for the pate brisse (the dough).

  3. After combining all ingredients to make the dough, cut it in half.

  4. Roll out one dough and line in a pie dish, leaving over hanging, let rest for 15 minutes.

  5. Roll the other half of the dough and let rest in refrigerator for 30 minutes

Now for the filling....

  1. Mix sugar, cinnamon nutmeg, flour together and set aside

  2. Peel and core apples, slicing thinly; sprinkle with lemon juice, and orange rind.

  3. Toss apples with the dry mixture and top with 2 tablespoons of butter.

Now to bake!

  1. Get your pie dish that you lined with the dough, add the apple filling, and cover with top pastry. (You can also make really nice designs for the top pastry at this point)

  2. Cut vents in the top pastry, brush with milk(you can use a nut milk, such as almond/soy milk, of choice) sprinkle top of pasty lightly with sugar

  3. Cook 50 minutes.

  4. Let cool on rack, and then enjoy!
